Program Summary

This presentation will explain why and how employees who are under the influence of a controlled substance cause damage to an organization, both financially and culturally, and are a liability that the employer can’t afford.  We will provide details on how to build a process and policy, train management/supervisors, communicate to employees, and will discuss options available once an employee has been tested and found positive.  Specific tools, along with examples of how (and how not) to handle various scenarios will be presented.

Objectives

1. Attendants will understand the legal, financial and cultural issues involved with employees at work under the influence of a controlled substance

2. Attendants will learn how to build a process for dealing with chemically impaired employees,  and will learn how to draft a policy on chemically impaired employees and reasonable suspicion testing

3. Attendants will learn how to train managers and supervisors in detecting and reacting to employees who are believed to be under the influence of a controlled substance

4. Attendants will be provided options and solutions on dealing with employees who have tested positive for being under the influence of a controlled substance.
