Program Summary: 

This presentation will focus on important employment law developments from 2017 and their implication for HR in 2018. How should employers react to important developments such as the #metoo campaign and the highly-publicized sexual harassment claims in the media? What’s new in case law and regulatory developments? Join us and find out!

Learning Objectives:

  1. Have increased knowledge of important legal and social developments from 2017 affecting HR in 2018
  2. Identify strategies for dealing with evolving issues, such as harassment in the workplace
  3. Examine the role of social media on workplace trends and learn lawful strategies for dealing with the same
  4. Have increased awareness of important case law, regulatory, and cultural developments and their impact on the workplace going forward in 2018

About the Speaker: 

Lisa Edison-Smith practices exclusively in all areas of employment and labor law and is a Certified Labor and Employment Law Specialist certified by the Minnesota State Bar Association.

Lisa is also a qualified neutral under Rule 114 of the Minnesota General Rules of Practice and is included in North Dakota's ADR Neutral Roster maintained by the North Dakota Supreme Court Administrator's Office.

Vanessa is also an editor of the North Dakota Employment Law Letter, a monthly newsletter providing employment law updates to North Dakota employers.
