To Register: Local Colleges and Internships

Tuesday, April 25th, 8:30am - 9:30am

Presented via Zoom

Speakers: Alli Goossens, Samantha Gust & Jill Wenger

Program Summary:

Being thoughtful and intentional as you design internship opportunities and engage with undergraduate students can mean a more successful and satisfying experience for all involved.

Career Center representatives from North Dakota State University (NDSU), Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM), and Concordia College-Moorhead will discuss the keys to creating a successful internship at your organization, what undergraduate students care about when it comes to selecting an internship site, and the best ways to connect and engage students at each individual campus.

Key Takeaways:

1. What characteristics are embedded in a quality internship program.

2. What students care about when it comes to selecting an internship site.

3. How to utilize Handshake (a free online recruiting platform utilized by all three local colleges…and many more) for marketing, sourcing, and student engagement.

4. Other ways to connect and engage students at each individual campus.

About the Speakers:

Alli Goossens:  As the Assistant Director of the Internship Program at North Dakota State University, Alli oversees all aspects of the Career and Advising Center’s Internship Program. In this role, Alli works collaboratively with key stakeholders, including staff, faculty, employers, and alumni to ensure high quality internship opportunities and experiences are available for all students. She also works to increase the prominence of all internships happening on-campus, in the region, and across the nation.

Samantha Gust: As the Director of the Career Development Center at Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM), Samantha leads a team of experts that provide career-focused learning, development, and networking opportunities for students. Her goal is to provide high-quality events, resources, and opportunities to ensure MSUM students feel confident and prepared to enter the workforce.

Jill Wenger: As the Associate Director of the Career Center at Concordia College-Moorhead, Jill’s focus is on employer relations and events. She works to ensure students have opportunities to make meaningful connections with employers for internships and career opportunities. She loves to coordinate career-related educational and networking events that engage students and employers in new and unique ways beyond traditional career fairs.
