Program Summary

This engaging and practical session equips participants with the ability to recognize and overcome barriers to situational awareness, avoid complacency, and improve dynamic decision-making skills. Participants will gain insights into how human error occurs, how to prevent training to fail, and how to incorporate situational awareness into everyday work practices and training programs. Through real-world examples and actionable strategies, attendees will learn to enhance their ability to perceive, understand, and predict events in high-stakes environments.

Takeaways

    • Avoiding Complacency: Understand what complacency is, how it develops, and strategies to stay engaged and vigilant in your role.
    • Preventing 'Training to Fail': Recognize how ineffective training can lead to poor real-world performance and implement strategies to improve training outcomes.
    • Incorporating Situational Awareness into Training: Learn tips and methods to embed situational awareness principles into organizational training programs.
    • Understanding Human Error: Recognize how slips in judgment, lapses in memory, and flawed decision-making occur, and understand that human error can happen to anyone, even the most experienced and well-trained professionals.
    • Overcoming Situational Awareness Barriers: Understand the recurring three-step SA development process-Perception (gathering intel), Understanding (sense-making), and Prediction (visioning)-and how barriers can impact decision-making.
    • Mastering Dynamic Decision Making: Learn the principles of making high-stress decisions that are high-risk, high-consequence, and time-compressed, where you often have only one chance to get it right.
