Substance Use Disorder and the Workplace

    **Registration closes 9/9/26**

To Register: Substance Use Disorder and the Workplace

Thursday, September 10th at 8:30 am, presented via Zoom.

Speakers: Patti Senn and Kellie Albrecht

    Program Summary & Key Takeaways:

Substance use disorders affect every industry, every employer size, and every level of the workforce. In fact, the majority of people with a SUD (Substance Use Disorder) are employed, which means this is likely a reality in your workplace, whether you're aware of it or not.

This session will help HR professionals and supervisors understand what SUD looks like on the job, how to respond appropriately when concerns arise, and how to build a workplace culture that supports early help-seeking without sacrificing accountability or safety.

At the end of the session, participants will be able to:

    • Understand what SUD (Substance Use Disorder) actually is — and why it's a workforce issue, not just a personal one
    • Recognize the real costs to your organization when SUD goes unaddressed
    • Spot observable signs of possible impairment and know when to act
    • Guide supervisors through a performance-based conversation — what to say and what to avoid
    • Know your role as HR when an employee discloses a problem
    • Use language and practices that reduce stigma without lowering expectations

    About the Speaker:

Civility as a Practice: Building the Muscle for the Moments

    **Registration closes 10/02/26**

To Register: Civility as a Practice: Building the Muscle for the Moments that Matter

    11:50 AM - 1:00 PM

Presented: Avalon Events Center OR Virtual

    Speaker: Jenn Graham

    Program Summary

Led by Jenn Graham, founder of Inclusivv, this interactive Lunch & Learn turns the tools introduced in Level Up How You Show Up and Level Up Your Conversations into real-world practice. Working together at their chapter tables, participants will tackle common workplace scenarios involving feedback, tension, miscommunication, and conflict—and explore how different responses can either escalate a difficult moment or move it toward greater understanding and accountability.

Using tools such as Nonviolent Communication (NVC), the GRACE model, and Confront with Care, participants will practice applying the frameworks to situations where there may be no perfect response. Table discussions and facilitated debriefs will give participants the opportunity to learn from one another, test different approaches, and consider how they might respond when similar situations arise in their own workplaces.

Because civility isn’t something we simply understand, it’s something we practice. Participants will leave with greater confidence navigating difficult moments with clarity, curiosity, care, and accountability. Each participant will also receive a Civility Practice Guide with the frameworks, prompts, and practical language from the sessions, giving them a resource they can return to as they continue practicing these skills in everyday workplace conversations.
